Cox Cable is the third-largest cable television provider in the United States. With more than 6.2 million customers including 2.9 million digital cable subscribers, 3.2 million digital telephone subscribers, and 3.5 million internet subscribers, it is the seventh-largest telephone carrier in the country. If you have recently subscribed to Cox cable services, you will first need to activate your Cox equipment before you can access them. Guide to Activate your New Cox Equipment

Before you begin activating your new Cox equipment, make sure to have one of the following ready with you:

  • The account number and Cox Pin or the last four of the account holder’s Social Security Number (SSN).
  • The service address and Cox Pin or the last four of the account holder’s Social Security Number (SSN).
  • The User ID and Password for the account.

Once you have one of the above-mentioned information, you can follow these steps to activate your new Cox equipment.

Activating your New Internet or Phone Modem

  1. To begin, you will first need to connect the coax cable you received with your kit from the wall to the back of the modem.
  2. Next, you will need to connect the power cord into the power port on the back of the device and the other end into the electrical outlet.
  3. Then, you will need to turn on your device and wait for at least 15 minutes to let the initial boot-up process get completed successfully.
  4. For a digital copy, you will need to refer to your self-installation kit or to Cox Self-Installation Kits and User Guides.

Note: In case you don’t have a retail modem supplied by Cox, it is suggested to locate the following information on your modem.

  • Serial number
  • Retail MAC address
  1. In order to activate your device, you will need to open your and web browser and enter cox.com/activate in the address bar.
  2. Check your account using one of the following.
  • Service address
  • Account number
  • Cox User ID
  1. Next, you will need to click on the Next button and complete the required information to access your account.
  2. Then, you will need to click on the Next button and follow the guided instructions to activate your service and device.

Activating Your New Receiver

  1. Start by connecting the coax cable that you received with your kit from the wall to the rear port of your receiver.
  2. Next, you will need to connect the blue end of the HDMI cable into the rear port of your receiver and the other end to your TV.
  3. Then, you will need to connect the power cord into the power port on the back of the device and the other end into the power outlet.
  4. Now, you will need to turn ON your receiver and TV, and use the TV remote to select the HDMI connection, and follow the instructions for the activation on your TV.
  5. For a digital copy, you will need to refer to your self-installation kit or to Cox Self-Installation Kits and User Guides.
  6. Next, you will need to activate your device. For this, go to cox.com/activate page on your web browser and check your account using one of the following.
  • Service address
  • Account number
  • Cox User ID
  1. Next, you will need to click on the Next button and complete the prompts to access the account.
  2. Then, you will need to click on the Next button and complete the on-screen prompts to activate your service and device.
